Minecraft Feature Project
What Tool?
This project was made using Figma.
Length of Project?
This project took me a total of 1 month to make, at least so far.
A Basic Summary
This was another project in UX II that taught me a lot about the UX design process. I had to analyze the features that already existed in Minecraft and come up with a new one that would enhance the user experience of the game.
Lessons I Learned
Feature analysis, interaction design, UX research, feature design.
Solo or Team?
I worked on this as a solo project.
Sole UX Designer?
With me working solo on this project, I was also the sole UX designer.
Highlighs/Constraints
Constraint
One of the constraints with this project was that Minecraft's feature set is really simple and useful, so adding a new feature that melded with the existing ones would be difficult.

Highlight
The highlight of this project was making the wireframes, as I had to come up with an unconventional way of showing off the concept that I wanted to show using Figma.

Planning

Ideation
I played an hour or two of Minecraft, taking notes and seeing what problems existed. The largest one that I came across was the various blocks that existed throughout the game.

Setting the Rules
This would be a smaller project, so I would do some interviews, catalogue the results, and then make a wireframe of what the audience wanted to be changed.
The Process
Interviewing
After playing Minecraft, I did an interview and found that there were similarities between the things that I found and the things this player was saying.
Data
With the data present, I decided to go with a fix that involved being able to move around multiple objects at once. I felt this would make organizing way easier.
The Wireframes
I then went through and made the prototype. This concept is essentially multi-select when using a mouse, but in Minecraft, instead.
It was difficult to make, but it ended up good.

Final Product and Conclusion

Conclusion
This is the final set of wireframes made for the game.
I had a really nice time making this project, and it gave me a good chance to look into interaction design and feature creation. On top of that, it was a feature that was in line with Microsoft's already existing products.
